Pro Many reasons
I like them because they are undemanding in terms of behaviour - you don't have to take them for a walk, they don't scratch the door to be let in, they don't use the house and garden as a toilet. They're just there, in the tank(s).
They are relaxing.
But, the main reason I like them is not really anything to do with the fish themselves. To keep fish happy and healthy and breeding, you need to make sure the water chemistry is right, the filter is well maintained, that the nitrogen cycle is established, that the lighting is correct, that the gravel is clean but not pristine, that algae is kept in check... It's like a giant chemistry kit that happens to have things swimming about in it. You have to get all that right else there's no point having any fish in the tank. I like the challenge

Pro That's a very good answer! And I'm the same, with the chemistry thing. My dad is too, he's almost obsessive with his water testing.

Pro I can't describe it. It's something a bit animalistic in me. They constitute the perfect meal. They make everything better.
